It's Not Me; It's You.

February 14, 2017

Are you still in love with your job? Here are 5 signs that it may be time to move on.

  1. You’re running late… a lot. You used to be the early bird, but recently you’ve been hitting the snooze button one too many times. Or maybe, you are ducking out early. What may have started as a few minutes has become a half hour. If you can’t learn to love your work again, it may be time to move on.

  2. You are suffering from work-related health problems. Are long hours or high stress effecting your health? Or maybe unsafe work conditions? It is time to move on. You only get one body and one life.

  3. You hate company culture. Is work-life balance askew for many of your co-workers? Are your co-workers encouraged to be malicious? Is management supporting unethical practices? Or maybe you find other practices or attitudes out of balance with your beliefs? It’s a lot easier to change jobs than an entire company's culture.

  4. Your performance is suffering. You’re missing deadlines and giving projects a half-hearted effort. This is a tell-tale sign that you’re just “not that into” your job anymore. Ask your manager for new challenges. If you can’t re-engage, it’s time to move on.

  5. Your pay check is feeling a little light. Are you being underpaid in comparison to market value or, even worse, to your coworkers? Find out what you’re worth. Check out Indeed Salary, Salary.com, or Glassdoor. It may be time to look for a new position.
